These words indicate relationships between other words in a sentence. It tell us where or when something is in relation to something else.
PREPOSITIONS
A preposition that contains two or more prepositional words. Also, we can say it is a combination of words.
COMPOUND/PHRASAL PREPOSITION
e.g.: in front of, as of, due to, next to, on top of
Prepositions that are short words used to determine a relation between nouns, pronouns or even to join parts of a clause or sentence.
SIMPLE PREPOSITION
e.g.: on, over, at, under, by
Prepositions that refer to the direction in which something moves or travels.
PREPOSITION OF DIRECTION
e.g.: towards, away, upward, from, to
Prepositions used to describe when something happened, when something is currently happening, or when something will happen in the future.
PREPOSITION OF TIME
e.g.: after, ago, before, during
Prepositions used to describe spatial relationships, these prepositions give more information about where something is located.
PREPOSITION OF PLACE/LOCATION
e.g.: at, in, on
Prepositions that tell the spatial relationships of items relative to each other.
PREPOSITION OF SPATIAL
e.g.: over, under, behind, above, below, in front of, inside, outside
Prepositions such as “with”, “for”, and “of”.
