How do you calculate the EDD?

A

Naegele’s Rule. First day of LMP minus 3 months plus one year. This works for 28 day menstrual cycle, based on first day of LMP plus 280 days.

A

How do you determine the gravida and parity of a patient?

A

Gravida is how many times the patient has been pregnant including current pregnancy. Parity is Florida Power And Light. F is number of full term births. P is number of pre term births. A is abortions, ectopics, elected or spontaneous. L is number of living children. For mom G4P4004.

A

A

No adequate studies. Includes many medications commonly taken during pregnancy. Aminoglycosides, Fluoroquinolones, Trimethoprim, Vancomycin.

A

Evidence of fetal risk but benefit may outweigh risk. Carbamazapine, Phenytoin, Streptomycin, Tetracyclines (yellow teeth)

A

When does gestational diabetes screening occur?

A

24-28 weeks gestation. One hour test after 50 gram glucose load. Confirmed with 3 hour glucose tolerance test.

What is Rhogam given for? When is it given?

A

Testin for ABO blood group and RhD antibodies first trimester. Rho(D) immune globulin 300 mcg for nonsensitized women at 28 weeks gestation and within 72 hours of delivery if infant has RhD-positive blood. Administered if increased risk (chorionic villus sampling, amniocentesis, etc.)
