Prelab Lecture 2 Flashcards
What are the nerves emerging deep to the SCM?
Supraclavicular (cutaneous nerves)
Accessory nerve
Pectoralis major Origin Insertion Action Nerve
Origin: medial half of clavicle, manubrium, body of sternum, costal cartilage of ribs 1-6, anterior layer of rectus sheathe
Insertion: crest of greater tubercle of humerus
Action: Adduction, internal rotation, flexion of arm (RESPIRATION WHEN SHOULDER FIXED)
Inn: Medial/lateral pectoral nerves of brachial plexus (C5, T1)
Serratus anterior Origin Insertion Action Nerve
Origin: ribs 1-9
Insertion: medial margin of costal surface of scapula
Action: Ext. rotation of scapula (in and forward) Lowers arm from raised position, elevates ribs
Nerve: Long thoracic nerve + brachial plexus (c5-C7)
What does cephalic vein run along?
Deltopectoral groove
Pectoralis minor Origin Insertion Action Nerve
Origin: ribs 3-5
Insertion: Coracoid process of scapula
Action: pulls scapula medially, forwards + downwards, aids in respiration
Nerve: medial + lateral pectoral nerves (c6-T1)
What are the boundaries of the posterior triangle?
SCN, Trapezius, clavicle
Deltoid Origin Insertion Action Nerve
Origin: acromion, crest of spine of scapula, lateral 1/3 of clavicle
Insertion: deltoid tuberoistiy of the humerous
Action: adduction of arm, flexion + internal rotation (anterior fibers) and posterior fibers do ext. rotation + extensions
Nerve: Axillary nerve
SCM Origin Insertion Action Nerve
Origin: sternal head, anterior surface of manubrium, clavicular head, medial third of clavicle
Insertion: mastoid process
Action: flexion laterally head
Nerve: accessory
Omohyoid muscle (inf/superior) Origin Insertion Action Nerve
Origin (sup): intermediate tendon
Insertion: lower border hyoid lateral to sternohyoid
Action:depression + stabilization of hyoid + larynx for phonation + swallowing
Nerve: superior root of ansa cervicalis
Origin (inf): Upper border of scapula medial to scapula notch
Insertion: intermediate tendon
Action: depression for swallowing + phonation
nerve: inferior root of ansa cervicalis
What does the external jugular vein cross?
The posterior triangle, superficial to SCM
What are the arteries branching off the thyrocervical trunk? What artery is next to these?
Transverse cervical
Suprascapular
Next to dorsal scapular artery
What are the brachial plexus roots?
Ventral rami of C5-T1
What are the main contents of the posterior triangle?
Ventral rami C1- C4 (Cervical plexus)
Spinal accessory nerve
Supraclavicular nerves Prenic nerve ( C3, C4, C5)
Transverse cervical + supra scapular arteries
Brachial plexus (C5-T1)
