A

Prefer groups that we are in.
Group of people asked which piece of art they liked better and grouped them by that. Liked group members better, higher ratings and better rewards. (us vs. them)

A

Perception that out-group members are “all the same”. Princeton & Rutgers (rivals). Students from both schools picked audio clip for study (male). Told voice from either school. Results were if one student liked this then all students at the school liked the same thing

men and women take difficult math test. 3 groups, control (told problem solving exercise), stereotype threat (told study of gender differences in math), threat + teaching (told about how to overcome the anxiety)
Results: control was similar, threat men did significantly better, when taught results were similar
