Termination of gestation prior to 20 weeks
Low/falling levels of hCG
Bleeding/midline cramping, dilated cervix
Spontaneous abortion
Pregnancy complicated by bleeding prior to 20wks
Bleeding or cramping; cervix not dilated
Bed Rest
Threatened Abortion
Some but not all products of conception passed. Retained products.
Mild cramps, bleeding persistent. Can be excessive
Incomplete Abortion
Cervix is dilated, but produces have not yet been expelled. Memrbanes ruptured
Inevitable abortion
Pregnancy w/ fetal demise but no uterine activity to expel products.
Brownish discharge, but no active bleeding.
Loss of pregnancy symtoms
Missed abortion
All products of conception without need for intervention.
Complete abrotion
Spontanous abortion complicated by intrauterine infection
Septic abortion
Recurrent abortions

No pregnancy seen in utero w/ hCG >2000; adnexal mass; sudden onset severe, stabing, non radiating abd pain
-Failure of hCG to double q48hrs, and lower than expected for gestational age
