what does smoking and drinking do when youre pregnant
Smoking and drinking alcohol are all factors that can cause
a low birth weight. Babies with a low birth weight will find
it harder to keep warm and will be weaker so are more at
risk of catching an illness.
what is premature birth
Premature birth – a baby is considered premature of they are
born 3 or more weeks before their due date. Babies that are born
this early can suffer from issues with breathing as their lungs are
not fully formed. Difficulty keeping warm. Issues with feeding as
they are unable to coordinate swallowing and breathing. Higher
risk of developing diseases.
what is foetal alcohol syndrome
This is a condition which is caused when a baby is
exposed to alcohol in the womb.
One of the most telling symptoms are the facial
features that are abnormal. However there are
many more health, growth and development
issues which can occur during this time.
