What is the pathophysiology of preeclampsia?
HTN during pregnancy, possibly due to placenta released substances causing vasoconstriction.
Above 140/90 considered abnormal.
What is the fundal height?
Distance +/- 3cm from top of public bone to top of uterus indicates length of pregnancy (after 24 weeks).
What is placenta previa?
Part or whole of placenta covers cervix opening.
What is placenta abruption?
Part or whole placenta detaches - 1% of all pregnancies, bleeding can be significant & concealed.
What is the pathophysiology of gestational diabetes?
Decreased efficacy of insulin secondary to placental hormones.
Increased insulin demand secondary to foetus demands.
