What is pregnancy induced hypertension
Development of gestational HTN in the 2nd half of pregnancy on two or more occasions about 4 hours Apart in a woman 👩 who is previously normotensive and in which Bp returns to normal within 6 weeks of delivery
What is preclampsia
It is a multi systemic disorder characterised by proteinuria and HTN which develops after the 20th week of pregnancy
Preeclampsia is a disease of what group and age
-Primigravida and age <20 and >35 years
-Multiparous women
What is HTN in pregnancy
Defined as a Bp of 140/90mmhg and above or a rise in systolic bp 30mmgh or diastolic of 15mmg
Proteinuria is defined as what
Presence of 300mg or more of protein in a 24 hr urine collection or protein measurement of 2+
Pathophysiology of preclampsia
-placental trigger: placental mass like twin pregnancy,molar pregnancy,diabetic pregnancy
Preclampsia can be classified as
Mild- diastolic Bp <110mmgh
Severe -Diastolic Bp > 110mmhg
What are the other cause of proteinuria
*UTI
*vaginal discharge
*Renal disorders
Preclampsia can occur before the 20th week of pregnancy in a patient with-
