Precipitation Flashcards
The ice crystals (Bergeron) process is ?
At what temp & what does it contain?
Precipitation forms in clouds colder than 0⚫️C. Contains ice crystals & SCWD
Water vapour turns to ice crystals. These grow to snowflakes. When large enough, start to fall. Melting into rain when freezing level above surface.
Coalescence theory
At what temp?
Precipitation forms in clouds, warmer than 0⚫️C
As tiny w droplets ascend in the cloud, they collide with each other, meaning they grow.
Drizzle DZ size.
