Precautionary Engine Shutdown (3.22)

  1. Autothrottle – “DISENGAGED” (PF)
     CAUTION: Performing an engine shutdown from any power setting other than IDLE may result in compressor stalls, engine damage, or a locked rotor. Prior to placing the start switch to STOP, ensure the throttle is in IDLE and the engine has spooled down to near-idle before accomplishing the shutdown.
  2. Throttle – “IDLE” (PF)
  3. Engine Start Switch – “STOP” (P)
  4. Rudder Lim Switch – “AS REQUIRED” (PM)
     WARNING: excessive rudder trim with the rudder against the stops can result in extreme rudder deflection and possible structural damage when the stops are removed
  5. TCAS – “AS REQUIRED” (PM)
  6. Throttle Positions – “MATCHED” (PF)
