- Asks God to act on the behalf of humans
- Intercessions prayers are also known as petitionary prayers
- Intercessions prayers may name events in the world such as the church, local issues
- At each stage of the prayer the person leading it must say ‘Lord in your mercy’ and the other people say ‘Hear our prayers’
- Informal prayers must be said in a person’s own words
- Prayers may ask for forgiveness, thank and praise. Also, people praying may be asking for guidance or inner help
