Assess for and provide equipment to help person carry out everyday tasks which they are struggling with.
What is SENCO?
Supports school in providing for the child and is involved in starting the statementing process
What is a speech therapist?
Helps child to speak clearly and strengthens mouth and tongue muscles

Complete formal assessments in schools. Lead in writing the statement of educational need.
What is a special needs school?
Provides education in a specialist environment. Lessons are appropriate for child’s ability.
What is a GP?
Treats infections and can prescribe medication
What is a dietician?
Advises on suitable diet to help person maintain weight. Support the use of enzymes or high protein shakes
What is a needs assessment?
Usually carried out by social workers used to ascertain whether someone needs residential care of whether other alternatives could be provided.
Down by observation and asks about living conditions.
What is domiciliary care?
Care provided in own home
What is a day centre?
Visit once/ twice a week to spend the day. Transport provides

What is a residential care home?
Long term support and care fro those unable to live in their own homes. Staff administer medicines
What is a nursing home?
Care for people with greater needs.
