What are the 7 types of practice for learning?
Whole Whole part whole Progressive part Massed Distributed Variable Mental
Whole Practice?
Practice the whole skill at once , usually because you cant break it down. Usually high organization, closed and discrete.
Whole part whole?
Practice the whole skill, find a part that isn’t as good and practice that and then the whole thing again. Usually low organization and can be discrete or serial.
Progressive part?
Take each subroutine and start from beginning nd slowly add all subroutines in until you have the whole skill.
Massed?
No rest in between. Could be for fitness or to learn a discrete skill. Usually simple skills that require little attention.
Distributed?
When a rest interval is given to reduce fatigue. Feedback and advice can be given during the breaks. Usually for beginners who need rest and encouragement.
Variable?
Involves using different methods to achieve a goal. Performs skill in different situations. Usually for open skills and externally paced skills.
Mental?
Rehearsing a task using imagery. Cognitive, appropriate for preparing for competition.
