PRACTICALS Flashcards
1
Q
Titration
A
technique to accurately measure volume of one solution reacting exactly with another .Can be used to check purity
2
Q
Steps to titrations
A
- solid weighted + dissolved in beaker using distilled water
- transfer to volumetric flask + use the washings to fill the volumetric flask
- invert the flask
3
Q
Acid-base titration procedure
A
- add measured volume to conical flask with pippete
- add other solution to burette record reading
- add few drops of indicator
- run solution from burette to conical flask swirl it around
4
Q
Standard solution
A
a solution of known concentration
5
Q
standard solution steps
A
- weigh the sample using a balance
- transfer solid to beaker and reweigh sample
- record the difference in mass
- add distilled water stir with a glass rod till solid has dissolved
- transfer to volumetric flask with all the washings
- fill to graduation line and invert the flask
