What are fenestrated capillaries and where are they located?
Vessels that have pores to allow diffusion
Located in endocrine glands, intestines, pancreas and glomeruli of the kidney
What type of cell is a tight junction?
Fascia occludens (found between most endothelial cells)
Are neutrophils likely to be in an atherosclerotic plaque?
No, neutrophils are in acute inflammation
Which are the elastic arteries?
Aorta, brachiocephalic, subclavian, common carotid and most of the large pulmonary arteries
What is the function of the vasa vasorum?
Supply oxygen and nutrients to the outer media in vessels with thick walls
What does the intima look like under microscopy?
Often so thin that it is barely perceptible
