PPCT Nerve Pressure and Motor Points Flashcards
Where is the Mandibular Angle Nerve Pressure Point?
Behind the base of the earlobe. Pressure should be directed IN and FORWARD toward the tip of the nose.
Where is the Hypoglossal Nerve Pressure Point?
One inch under the jaw in the NOTCH of the jawbone. Thumb should be pushed/applied toward the top and center of the head.
Where is the Supra-scapular Nerve Motor Point?
Located at junction where trapezius muscles connect to the side of the neck. Angle of the strike should be directed toward the floor (double-hammer).
Where is the Radial Nerve Motor Point?
Top of the forearm, 2 inches below the elbow joint. Strikes should be made toward the center of the arm.
Where is the Brachial Plexus Origin Nerve Pressure Point?
Nerves meet at SIDE OF NECK 3” from the base. Pressure should be applied DIRECTLY toward the center of the neck.
Where is the Jugular Notch Nerve Pressure Point?
At hollow at base of neck, just above sternum. Index or Middle Finger directed downward at 45 degrees.
Where is the Brachial Plexus Clavicle Notch Nerve Pressure Point?
Halfway between sternum and the shoulder joint. Touch pressure should be applied downward at a 45 degree angle.
Where is the Radial Nerve Motor Point?
Approximately 2” below elbow joint. Strike should be made toward the center of the arm.
Where is the Median Nerve Motor Point?
Inside of the forearm at base of the wrist just above heel of the hand. Direction of pressure is toward center of the wrist and should ONLY be used for impact weapon blocking.
Where is the Femoral Nerve Motor Point?
Middle of the inside of the thigh between groin and knee. (Alternative target for striking the legs)
Where is the Common Peroneal Nerve Motor Point?
Outside of the thigh 6” above the knee. Best target for Angle Kick, Knee Strike and Impact Weapon Strikes. (Don’t get too high on hips)
Where is the Tibial Nerve Motor Point?
Located on top of the calf muscle just below the knee joint. Strikes should be delivered at the top of the calf. (Least accessible due to location. Used for impact weapon strikes from rear oblique position.
Where is the Superficial Peroneal Nerve Motor Point?
Located at base of shin just above instep. Dysfunction can last for 30 seconds to several minutes.
Where is the Infra Orbital Nerve Pressure Point?
Located at BASE of nose. Pressure should be applied at 45 degree angle toward top center of head.
What three nerves are affected by the Mandibular Angle Pressure Point?
- Vagus
- Hypoglossal
- Gloss Pharyngeal
