Explain the presidents job of selecting ambassadors and Supreme Court judges
A
- if there is issues between the US and another country, the us ambassador of that country is summoned
- judges must be of the highest calibre to be able to read and interpret intricate pieces of legislation and judge them on their legality. There are nine judges

A
Obama selected Sonia Sotomayor for SCJ, the first Hispanic to hold such a post.

A
- not in the legislative branch of the gov but can put ideas for laws forward
- each year, in the state of union address, the president outlines to congress which laws he feels should be implemented

In 2009 Obama submitted the Patient Protection and affordable care act (Obamacare)

How can the pres veto legislation?
A
- has the power to veto any piece of legislation
- the final stage to pass it is to have the pres to sign it, he can simply refuse to do so
- will only do this if he feels it is not in the interests of the people
