Q

Baudrillard (media saturation)

A
  • media saturation has altered reality
  • media saturation has made it difficult for people to distinguish what is reality and what is fiction
  • people are so consumed and engulfed by communication and devices that this has lead to a state of hyper reality meaning our physical reality has become blended with virtual reality
  • so much information in the world that media simplifies for audiences so power is in media producers leading to audiences accepting diluted news
Eg. Holly Willoughby targeted by scammers who used her images and fake promotional quotes to advertise their diet pills (fake news resulted in struggling to differentiate between what is real and what is fake -becoming simulacra)
