- themes: need for immigration control (key theme on political debate and frequent topic in headlines), burden on the welfare and job market (ignores the possible economic benefits of immigration for the uk in favour of exaggerating perceived burden that immigrants put on the welfare state and job market) etc.
Eg. Headlines about increasing immigration levels such as the daily express “immigration soars 20% in a year” , “we can’t take anymore”
