Posterior Thigh Muscles Flashcards
Semitendinosus - Origin
Ischial tuberosity
Biceps Femoris (long head) - Action
- extends thigh
- flexes leg and rotates it laterally when knee is flexed
Semitendinosus - Action
- extend thigh
- flex leg and rotate it medially when knee is flexed
- can extend trunk when thigh and leg are flexed
Semimembranosus - Innervation
Tibial division of sciatic nerve (L5, S1, S2)
Biceps Femoris (short head) - Action
- extends thigh
- flexes leg and rotates it laterally when knee is flexed
Semimembranosus - Actions
- extend thigh
- flex leg and rotate it medially when knee is flexed
- can extend trunk when thigh and leg are flexed
Semimembranosus - Insertion
- posterior part of medial condyle of tibia
- reflected attachment forms oblique popliteal ligament (to lateral femoral condyle)
Semitendinosus - Innervation
Tibial division of sciatic nerve (L5, S1, S2)
Biceps Femoris (long head) - Insertion
Lateral side of head of fibula
Semimembranosus - Origin
Ischial tuberosity
Biceps Femoris (long head) - Innervation
Tibial division of sciatic nerve (L5, S1, S2)
Biceps Femoris (Long Head) - Origin
Ischial tuberosity
Semitendinosus - Insertion
Medial surface of superior part of tibia
Biceps Femoris (short head) - Origin
- Linea aspera
- lateral supracondylar line of femur
Biceps Femoris (short head) - Insertion
- lateral side of head of fibula
- tendon is split at this site by fibular collateral ligament of knee
Biceps Femoris (short head) - Innervation
Common fibular division of sciatic nerve (L5, S1, S2)
