Intro Flashcards
0
Q
Angle of declination (torsion angle)
A
- between head and neck of femur and transverse axis of femoral condyles along shaft
- allows for flexion/extension, adduction/abduction, rotation of thigh
1
Q
Angle of inclination
A
- long axis of head and neck of femur project superomedially
- proximal femur is “L-shaped”
- average in adults = 126 degrees (115-140)
- less in females
- allows greater mobility of femur at hip joint - places head and neck of femur more perpendicular to acetabulum
2
Q
Patella
A
- sesamoid bone
- increases biomechanical advantage of quads
3
Q
Lateral malleolus
A
- on fibula
- more prominent than medial malleolus
- helps hold talus in socket
4
Q
Gluteal region
A
- bounded superiorly by iliac crest, greater trochanter, and ASIS
- bounded inferiorly by gluteal fold
5
Q
Superficial gluteal muscles
A
- gluteus max, med, min
- tensor fasciae latae
6
Q
Deep gluteal muscles
A
Piriformis, obtruator Internus, superior and inferior gemelli, quadratus Femoris
- lateral rotators
7
Q
Gluteus bursae
A
- reduce friction and permit free movement
- separates glut max from adjacent structures
- trochanteric bursa, ischial bursa, gluteofemoral bursa
