Posterior Lower Leg Muscles Flashcards
Distal attachment Extensor Hallucis Longus
Dorsal surface of base of distal phalanx of great toe, giving tendinous slips to the base of the proximal phalanx also
Proximal attachment Extensor Hallucis Longus
Middle two quarters of anterior aspect of fibula and adjacent interosseous membrane
Nerve supply EHL and EDL
Deep Peroneal Nerve L5,S1
Proximal attachment Extensor Digitorum Longus
Linear attachment from proximal two thirds of the anterior surface of fibula, upper part of interosseous membrane and lateral condyle of tibia
Distal attachment Extensor Digitorum Longus
Central portion of the extensor hood attaches to the base of the middle phalanx, while the outer two portions unite and attach to the base of the distal phalanx
Proximal attachment Tibialis Posterior
Proximal half of lateral aspect of posterior surface of tibia, inferior to Soleal line
Interosseous membrane
Posterior aspect of fibula
Distal attachment Tibialis Posterior
Tuberosity of the navicular and plantar surface of medial cuneiform
Sends slips to plantar surfaces of all tarsal bones except the talus
Nerve supply Tibialis Posterior
Tibial Nerve L4,L5
