Posterior Compartment Of Thigh Flashcards
What muscle originates from the medial impression of the ischial tuberosity and inserts into the medial condyle of tibia
Semimembranosus
Originates from ischial tuberosity and inserts onto medial aspect of tibia
Semitendinosus
Half membranous and half tendinous
Semimembranosus and semitendinosus
They perform flexion of leg at knee joint, extension of thigh at hip joint, medial rotation of thigh at hip joint and medial rotation of leg at knee joint
Semimembranosus and Semitendinosus
They perform flexion of leg at knee joint, extension of thigh at hip joint, lateral rotation of thigh at hip joint and lateral rotation of leg at knee joint
Biceps Femoris
Innervated by tibial branch of sciatic nerve
Blood supply by perforating branches of femoral and popliteal arteries
Semimembranosus
Innervated by tibial branch of sciatic nerve
Blood supply by deep femoral artery and median circumflex femoral artery
Semitendinosus
Long head- medial impression of ischial tuberosity
Short head- lateral lip of linea aspera and lateral supracondylar line of femur
Biceps femoris
Converge and form a tendon and inserts into head of fibula
Biceps Femoris
Long head- Tibial nerve
Short head- Common fibular /peroneal nerve
Biceps femoris
Blood supply( a different muscle)- deep femoral artery and median circumflex femoral artery
Biceps femoris
Another name for deep femoral artery
Profunda femoris artery
