Originates from obturator membrane and adjacent bone
Obturator externus
Originates from pubis and ischium at obturator foramen
Obturator internus
Originates from anterior surface of sacrum
Piriformis
Inserts onto greater trochanter of femur
Gemellus inferior and superior
Passes under the neck of femur and inserts into the posterior aspect of greater trochanter
Obturator externus
Inserts intoQuadrate tubercle on intertrochanteric crest
Quadratus femoris
Travels inferiorly and laterally through the greater sciatic foramen and inserts onto the upper border of greater trochanter
Piriformis
Muscle passes through lesser sciatic foramen and inserts into the medial side of greater trochanter
Obturator internus
Lateral rotation and abduction of thigh
Piriformis, gemellus inferior and superior , obturator internus
Lateral rotation of thigh
Quadratus femoris
Lateral rotation and adduction of thigh
Obturator externus
