Posterior compartment of the arm Flashcards
What muscles make up the posterior compartment of the arm
Triceps and the Anconeus
What nerve innervates all the muscles in the posterior arm
Radial nerve
What is the origin, insertion, action and innervation of Triceps
Origin: -Long head= scapula -Lateral head = humerus - Medial= humerus Insertion: olecranon of the ulna
Action: extends forearm at elbow, and extends arm at shoulder
Innervation: radial nerve
What is the origin, insertion, action and innervation of Anconeus
Origin: Lateral epicondyle of the humerus
Insertion: olecranon of the ulna
Action: stabilize elbow and assist triceps
Innervation: radial nerve
What is the major artery of the arm
The brachial artery and its branches (profunda brachii and ulnar collaterals)
What are the superficial veins of the arm
cephalic and basilic
What are the deep veins of the arm
brachial veins
What are the 2 transient nerves of the arm
median and ulnar
