A

Industrial Revolution
It opened up much more jobs in factories for income for the lower classes. On the other hand it was 12 hours shifts and this took away the chance of participating in sport.

A

The belief in Muscular Christianity being moral christian people and the cult of athleticism being well-rounded sports people helped public schools arrange sports clubs and fixtures. Rules were written and governing bodies were formed due to public schools

A

It was passed in 1870 and made sure that schools had a set curriculum in which they taught. This meant sport was taught and taken part in by all students at school

A

Factory workers were encouraged to create sports teams and this led to the creation of Arsenal and West Ham in the modern day.

A

Train lines and canals were produced which meant travelling was much easier and quicker. This allowed fixtures to be played all around the country and leagues were formed

A

Violent sports such as animal baiting and cock fighting were stopped due to laws. Mob football was put to an end as well but the lower classes still lived violently in their day to day life
