Portable Oxygen Bottle (POB) Flashcards
(A319/321) what is the preflight check
- The pressure gauge must read between 1500-2000 PSI.
- one mask must be attached to the HI flow side and one additional mask present
- both masks must be sealed
Locate/define the POB and it’s use
The portable oxygen bottle is used by the crew during and/or following a depressurization. Or for first aid
(A319/321) what is the flow rate in liters per minute and the flow duration for each outlet if the POB
- 2 liters per min; for 120 mins on LO side
- 4 liters per min; for 66 mins on HI side
(A319/321) what steps must be taken before activating the POB
- check O2 gauge for quantity
- ensure mask is attached to the appropriate outlet for the situation at hand
Attach the mask to the alt flow valve outlet
Switch mask to alt flow valve
(A319/321) what are the HI and LO outlets used for
- HI is used for decompression or first aid
- LO is used for infants, asthmatics or emphysema
How do you prepare the PAX for POB use
Remove oil and makeup from the PAX face
(A319/321) how do you activate the POB
- turn the valve counter-clockwise to the full open position
- then turn the valve back 1/4 turn
How do you check for o2 flow
- Squeeze the reservoir bag just below the mask and check for inflation
- check for odor and color
How would you secure the POB when in use
- secure under the PAX seat with a seat belt extension
- engage gauge faces aisle
How often do you check the POB when in use
Every 10 mins
What should the POB never fall below
500 PSI. this ensures enough pressure remains in the event of a depressurization
What steps are taken when the POB is no longer needed or when pressure falls below 500 PSI
- turn the valve clockwise to the off position
- return the POB to its bracket and leave the used mask attached to the unit
- administer additional o2 from another POB If needed
(A320) What is the preflight check
- the pressure gauge must read between 1500-2000 PSI
- one mask attached to the outlet and one additional mask must be present
- all masks must be sealed
Remove mask from outlet and place back
Remove mask from outlet and connect back into same outlet
