Mark release recapture

A
  1. Capture a sample of the pop and mark each individual (n1)
  2. Count them
  3. Release all of the samples back into the wild, and let them re-integrate with the population
  4. Go back and capture a 2nd sample from the same pop (n2), count them, and count how many individuals are marked(nm)
