develop thinking skills, consider learning a lifelong process, accept responsibiity, growth mindsettttttttttttt, no negative thoughts, talk out problems, manage stress, etc.,
how do you maintain social health
communicating and expressing, respect yourself and others , empathetic, offer support , cooperating and compromising, accepting weaknesses, time to nurture family/friend relationships, etc.
what is the health continuum
state of health on a continuum to understand your standing in how healthy your mental state is

what is heredity (influences on health)
- traits that are passed down biologically, or things that a person cannot control (eye colour, basic intellect, tendencies towards certain diseases, height, body size/type, etc.)

- the sum of your surroundings (where you’ve grown up, your family, current living space, experiences)
what are the parts in environment (influences on health)
- physical – parks, recreational areas, clean/safe?, air quality?
- social - surrounded by supporting family/friends, non toxic environment (socially)
- culture - understanding your culture, and how it might fit with your community, ex. some cultures refuse specific treatments

- under your control, the choices YOU make.
ex. diet, wearing sunscreen, smoking, exercise

canadas health care system is the princple of having an organized system for medically necessary health care services provided on the basc need, rather than having to pay out of pocket
five principles of the canada health act?
- public administration - health plans must be provided on a non-profit basis
- comprehensivenes - health plans must insure all pedical services are provided by hospitals, medical practitioners, and dentists working within a hospital setting
- universality - health plans must give equal treatment to everybody
- accessiblity - health plans must give everyone reasonable access without financial or other barriers
- portability - the government or provincial plans must cover all insured persons when they move to anoter province or territory INSIDE canada
what are the parts of the healthcare system ?
- primary
- secondary
- supplementary
what is primary in the healthcare system?
- first point of contact a patient goes to for illness
(ex. family doctor, er doctor, paramedic)
what is secondarty in the healthcare system?
- specialists, long-term care, local health integration network (LHIN), doctors might refer patients to these specialists
- ex. allergies, dermatologist, neurologist, oncologist, pediatrictian, psychiatrist
