Q

Describe how you draw addition polymers

A

Repeating unit is drawn in the brackets with the two end bonds extending out
The number of repeating units is written in small at the bottom right outside the brackets

Q

Differences between addition and condensation polymerisation:

A
  • In condensation each time 2 monomers join another small molecule is formed - usually water or HCl.
  • Usually in condensation polymerisation it is 2 different monomers reacting together

Q

Polyesters - what do monomers have to have at each end

A

7
Q

What is produced in the reaction to form a polyester
What does it form from

A

H2O
The H from the alcohol reacts with the OH from the carboxylic acid
