A
Pollarding is when you cut off high branches of a tree to encourage new growth at the top.

- reduces the amount of shade cast
- reduces amount of debris from twigs & dead leaves

A
Coppicing is when trees are cut to a “stool” so that new shrubs/shoots can grow
