Police values and objectives Flashcards
Respect
MSD - many clients from all walks of life.
I always upheld the mana of those I engaged with because I never knew what was going on with someone. Treating them as an equal ensured they got the most out of the support I could provide
Integrity
being honest and upholding ethical standards
MSD – clients who were above income threshold. This tested my integrity because I knew they had genuine needs and felt the system was unjust at times. However, I was aware these systems were in place to ensure equality and this is an important ethical standard for me.
Treaty principle: partnership
MSD
partnered with iwi led community groups. I learnt how their services could enhance ours if we improved our partnership (youth would transition to MSD easier and better support could be provided instead of losing them in the system).
Understood that partnership made us stronger and helped us achieve our common purpose of helping Rangitahi
Police objectives
Communities which are and feel safe
Treaty principle: protection
