Communication and team Flashcards
What role do you take in a team
Rec24
Within this team I have found that my strength is finding, filtering, and analysing information. (literature review, OT Review, Family Violence review, submissions analysis, problem definition)
Therefore I think I tend to take a supportive and informative role as I am good at referring to objectives and identifying problems as well as information relevant to this
How do you avoid bias
I’m aware the bias occurs when our brains make quick decisions/judgements. I’m also aware that my previous experiences can influence this.
How I manage this: MSD example
I make considered decisions – ensured I had all relevant info to make an informed decision
I question my thinking and how I arrived to conclusions or attitudes - checked and questioned myself throughout the process
I make an effort to surround myself with diverse people and expose myself to new subjects and experiences – friend group, study
Example of group analysis
Rec 24
if the injury is serious enough, people are still likely to seek help (comment from submission and supported by team)
My thought: if we’re relying on severity does that by default facilitate a high reporting threshold when this was an identified problem?
result: made the group think about our reliance on this thinking and have agreed to address this in future briefings
Example of collaborating on projects
Rec24
Taking initiative and proactively looking for ways I can lessen the workload for project leaders - literature review, research, risk and benefit analysis to guide briefing.
Am efficiently producing quality work, ensuring I meet deadlines, and keeping my team updated.
Having frequent meetings to ensure we stay on track, clear milestones and objectives.
A time you encountered a challenging situation and how you dealt with it
Signout process made things complex and last minute for cost recovery briefing.
Used the support of my team
Communicated clearly and diplomatically
Acted proactively so things didnt escalate – having a positive team/work environment is important to me - communicated I how I found the experience difficult, asked what I could do differently next time to better support the process. Feedback was: accept the fluid working environment which I can confidently say I have become comfortable with.
Ensure I have outlets to support any stresses – weightlifting and friends
