Poker Blueprint Flashcards
The two main concerns when navigating a hand?
- where you want to get to
- Where your opponent wants to get to
Core principle #1
Every hand has an appropriate pot size it wants to navigate to
Why is there an element of deception?
Because our opponents will not be cooperative
Why is player type/personality an important consideration?
Because we use this information to determine the best way to navigate the hand
High boards like AK9 tend to favour who?
The aggressor/ the raiser
Low connected boards tend to favour who?
The passive player ie the caller
How do we play when the board is good for our range?
More aggressive, we bluff more and are more active with value
How do we play when the board is bad for our range?
More passive, we fold more and XC more with value
What is the main consideration for bluffing?
When the pot has become to large for our hand
If the pot becomes to big for our hand we can also consider?
Bluff catching
Generally speaking we should take our bluffs from? and why?
From the bottom of our calling range (not so much our calling range), because this keeps us in check and prevents us from massively over bluffing
The three regions of our range are?
- Good enough to raise
- Good enough to call
- Not good for anything but folding
Why do offsuit hands have a higher threshold for playing?
Because they are usually drawing to just pairs
When an opponent bets and then checks what are they often telling you?
Bluffing should make money for you here, when this is the action and you cant win you should lean towards bluffing as your default without a very good reason not to
How much do middle pairs want?
1-2 bets
