POF - Introduction Flashcards
What is acceleration?
Acceleration is the rate of change of velocity.
What is mass?
It is the measure of the amount of matter within an object.
What is the first law of motion?
An object will remain at rest or in motion unless acted upon by an external force.
What is the second law of motion?
Acceleration of an object is proportionate to the force applied, however it is inversely proportionate to the mass of the object.
What is the third law of motion?
For every reaction, there is an equal or opposite reaction.
What is the formula for Force?
F = m•a
F: Newton
m: Kg
a: m/s^2
What is weight?
Weight is the force that a mass exerts within a gravitational field.
What is the formula for Weight?
Weight = m•g
Weight: Newton
mass: Kg
g: m/s^2
What is Earth’s gravitational field?
9.81 m/s^2 however it is normally rounded to 10.
