Presentation of pneumonia in children
A
Cough wet and productive, high fever, tachypnoea, tachycardia, increased WOB, lethargy, delirium, hypoxia, hypotension, confusion

Characteristic chest sounds of pneumonia
A
Bronchial breath sounds, focal course crackles, dullness to percussion

Most common bacterial causes
A
Strep pneumoniae, Group A strep, Group B strep, staph aureus, H influenza, mycoplasma pneumonia

A
RSV, parainfluenza, influenza

Treatment of pneumonia in children
A
Amoxicillin often used first line, adding macolide such as erythromycin or clarithromycin to cover atypical antibiotics
