A
  • Plot was hatched at court to deal with succession and Mary.
  • Duke of Norfolk was planned to marry Mary.
  • He was Protestant so his future children would be Protestant.
  • Earl of Leicester told Elizabeth.

This showed how dangerous Mary was, even in captivity. She was moved to Coventry.

  • So soon after the papal bull, it reinforced the Catholic threat from both home and abroad.
  • Reinforced the Spanish threat, tensions and anxiety increased with albas army in the Netherlands.
  • Because of the Spanish threat, Elizabeth wanted to improve relations with France.
