Plates Flashcards

1
Q

Describe the distribution of plates across the world

A
  • The Earth’s crust is made up of bits caved plates which are distributed around the world
  • Heat rising and falling within the mantle causes convention currents

Q

Compare and contrast continental plates

A
  • There is two different types of crust: thin oceanic and thick continental
  • The oceanic plate is denser than the continental plates. The continental thick crust allows it to have a low density

Q

What are the differences between a destructive, constructive and conservative plate margins?

A
  • Conservative is where two plates slide past eachother
  • Constructive is where two plates move away from eachother
  • Destructive is finally where two plates collide. Oceanic and Continental
