- In 2010, the Eyjafjallajokull volcano erupted in Iceland.
- The eruption was caused by the meeting of one body of magma made up mostly of basalt combined with sicila rich magma

A
- 10 million airline passangers were affected and stranded abroad
- ## 107,000 flights were cancelled over the 8 day ban, which is a short term effect

- A short term economic impact was that airlines lose up to £200 million each day due to postponded flying

A
- The eruption added 107 million tonnes of carbon dioxide each day to atmosphere but the lack of air travel prevented 1.3 million tonnes from reaching the atmosphere

- The Iceland goverment led the response to this eruption by evacuating 700 icelanders from their homes
