A
- People are using the the Fold Mountains in the Himalayas for tourism which helps to boost the local economy

What challenges do people who live near fold mountains face?
A
- The soil is very thin and poor as it is mountainous so it is very difficult to grow crops
- Land is very steep so it is difficult to build on.
- People have struggled to access clean water and electricity

Does Tourism have any negative impacts on Nepal?
A
- Yes, it is firstly destroying the environment. Everest has been described as the biggest rubbish dump in the world
- Providing precious electricity and water for local people becomes very difficult when there are tens of thousands of tourists and climbers demanding the same thing

How is mining taking place on Fold Mountains?
A
- Despite having important mineral reserves, mining and quarrying aren’t currently big industries in Nepal
- They only account for 0.5 percent of the countries GDP
- Small scale mining is being encouraged and more mineral surveys are being undertaken to locate the best reserves

A
- 76 percent of Nepalese work is farming. Many of the exports go to India because it is easier to transfer goods across the border to India than to mountainous regions.
