Plat and heam Flashcards
Functional structure of platelets ?
1-cell membranes witch consists of :glycoproteins, phospholipid, highly invaginated forming complex canalicular system
2-cytoplasm consist of: organelles and important structure

Physiological function of platelets?
It has primary role in heamostasis through 5 function
1- realse of platelets phospholipid=PF3 to start clotting
2-formations of platelets plug
3-stabilize and decrease size of blood clot (retraction)
4-realse of VC substances such as: serotonin,TXA2
5- help repair of damaged vessel (by growth factors)
Platelets origin
By megakaryocyte fragmentation (megakaryocyte formed under effect of GM-CSF)
platelets released:
30% present in spleen
70% present in blood
Half life of platelets
8-12 DAYS
