Plasma proteins Flashcards
Plasma protein function?
1- regulate blood volume 2-coagulation of blood 3-carrier function 4-defense function 5-blood viscosity 6-buffering function
Others :
- carry CO2 from tissue to lung
- control capillaries permeability
- uses by tissue during starvation
Explain how plasma protein control blood volume?
Their large size will exert an osmotic pressure
Mainly by albumin
Why albumin ? Height concentration of it and small molecular weight
Explain how plasma protein control blood viscosity ? And why is it important?
Blood viscosity is produced by RBCs and plasma protein
mainly by fibrinogen due to its enelogted shape
They produce peripheral resistance that will maintain ABP
Plasma protein synthesis site ?
All synthesized by liver
except gamma synthesized by Lymphoid tissue
Factors effecting erythreopoisis
5
nutritional factors : protein, folic acid , vit B 12, iron Hormones Healthy liver Healthy bone marrow Erythropoietin hormone
Hormones controlling erythroposis
TAG + erythropoietin hormone
Thyroid
Androgens
Glucocorticoids
erythropoietin
Mention its
Source
And factors effecting its release
Source
In fetal Life ▶️ liver
After birth ▶️ 90% by kidney 10% by liver ( can’t compensate)
Factors H4A Hypoxia Adenosine Adrenaline noradrenaline prostaglandins Androgen Alkalosis (🔼 co2 )
Role of copper in red cell synthesis
Cofactor for HB synthesis
Stimulate erythropoietin secretion
Plasma and serum differences?
Plasma =blood - cells
Serum =no plasma clotting factors but have more serotonin content
Effect of theophylline in RBCs synthesis
It is an antagonist for adenosine ( needed for stimulations of erythropoietin)
Plasma Protein can act as a carriers mention some
Albumin ▶️ carry hormones vitamins fa aa
Apo-lipoprotein B : lipoprotein carrier
Trans ferrin : is a B1 globulin that carry iron
Talk about albumin: globulin ratio
Normally it’s 1.2 to 1.6
It’s important because it changes in many diseases clinically
For example it will be ⬇️ in liver and kidney patient
