Plants Botany Flashcards
What are “Annuals plants?”
Plants that only survive through a single growing season.
What are “Biennials plants?”
Plants that survive through two growing seasons.
What are “Perennial plants?”
Plants that continue to grow year after year.
What is “Xylem tissue?”
They transport water up from the ground to the branches and leaves.
What is “phloem tissue?”
Transports food made in the leaves (By Photosynthesis).
What is “phloem tissue?”
Transports food made in the leaves (By Photosynthesis).
What do “Vascular bundles” do?
The sugars produced by photosynthesis are transported throughout the plant via “Vascular Bundles.”

What do “Stomata” do?
They are opening on the bottom side of a leaf that let moisture and gases to pass out and in of the leaf.

What is the “Epidermis?”
The epidermis protects the inner parts of the leaf.
What is “Collenchyma?”
This is made up of a thick-walled cells that support the vein.
A “Deciduous plant” does what in the winter?
A “Deciduous plant” loses its leaves in the winter.
What is the “Abscission layer?”
The abscission layer begin to block the xylem and phloem running through the petiole of the leaf ( this will slowly kill the leaf) (Fall)
