Plants Flashcards
What is the photosynthesis equation?
Chemical and word equation
6Co2+6H2o->C6 H12 06+6o2
Carbon dioxide + water > light , glucose + oxygen
Epidermis
The outer layer of tissue on a plant also the outer layer of an animals skin
Chloroplast
In the chloroplasts of a plants leaves water and carbon dioxide react together to make carbohydrates and oxygen
Sucrose
The plant doesn’t transport glucose it turns it into sucrose who’s molecule is made up of glucose
Making amino acids to make proteins
Plants use some of the glucose made in photosynthesis to make amino acids. These amino acids can then be used to make proteins for growth theses proteins contain ( hydrogen oxygen and also nitrogen ) which the get from the soil these ions are taken in by active transport through root hairs these nitrogen ions can be transported all over the plant and combined with glucose to make amino acids
The process of photosynthesis
Some of the energy in the light is absorbed by the chloroplast
The chlorophyll molecule then releases the trapped energy
The released energy makes carbon dioxide combine with water
This is done with the help of enzymes in the chloroplasts
The causes glucose to be made
The glucose contains energy from light
Thus the light energy is converted into chemical energy in photosynthesis
Leaves the plants nutritionists
Palisade cells, which contains chloroplasts
Which contain chlorophyll molecules
Which contain the enzyme that catalyse photosynthesis
