Parts of the eye Flashcards
cornea
causes all the light it receives to refract and the oxygen it needs diffuses onto it from the outside
Pupil
is not actually a structure it just allows light to pass through to the lens
Lens
Is able to change the shape which helps it choose how strongly to refract the light which helps it perfectly refract light onto the retina at the back of the eye
Retina
the Retina has two different types of cells the cone cells which help the eyes to see colour and rod cells which are more sensitive to the light which mean you can only see in black and white like in the dark
Fovea
is a structure on the retina where only cone cells are
Optic nerve
Which takes impulses made by the receptor cells and transmits them to the brain
