Plantinga Flashcards
3 refutations of Ruse’s assertion that God and theory don’t equal sci
1 there is no complete definition of sci
2 we have phenomena (BBang) that aren’t repeatable, so we don’t know if truth is repeatable. Also, we don’t know universe is law-governed
3 the definition that sci is repeatable, law-governed, and natural, doesn’t explain away sig of God
City of God vs city of man. When is science not neutral?
When sci comes close to commenting on humanity (sci of understanding) it is not neutral
P on God of gaps
Theists should hold that God is universally active, that God doesn’t intervene, and that God isn’t a being of causality
Science stopper
Nsci seeks to understand and God is not an explanation if used directly (such as to explain light and human nature).
How could Xianity be science but not scistop?
Hold Xianity as a background, such as OS in psych, use theology to find where God does/does not work, use bible to see how God created, and create paradigm based on that.
P on why sci stops aren’t adequate
If we approach sci as empirical inquiry (not a priori theology), there should be no conflict
