Mix organic material into soil and add fertilizer if needed 6-8 weeks before planting.
What is compost? How is it used in vegetable garden preparation and maintenance?
Mixture of decayed plants and vegetable waste added to soil to enrich nutrient content. It should be added at least once a year 6-8 weeks before planting
What is mulch + examples? How is it used in preparation and maintenance? How is it different from compost/
Straw, organic compost. Added on top soil to keep soil temperature lower and prevent water loss. Compost is broken down/decay; mulch isn’t.
What plant residues are NOT recommended as mulch?
Grass Clippings!
