-anchoring the plant
-absorb water and minerals from the soil
-store food

-a food source (ex. carrots, sweet potato, sugar beet, and ginger)

Function of shoot system:
- Conduct Photosynthesis
- Produce flowers
- transport water and nutrients to various parts

-leaf
-flower
-stem
Function of the leaf in the shoot system =
