what is auxin?
A
a plant hormone that controls the growth that is near the tips and roots

how do you investigate the effect of light on the growth of plants? “phototropism”
A
1) put 10 crews seeds into 3 petri dishes each lined with moist filter paper (all labelled)
2) shine a light onto one of the dishes from above and two from different directions
3) leave for a week to grow and observe the results- you should find the dress grow towards to light

how do you know the growth response of dress seeds is due to light only?
A
by controlling all other variables such as
- number of seeds
- type of seeds
- temperature
- water volume
- light intensity

what happens when a shoot tip is exposed to light?
A
more auxin accumulates on the side that in the shade meaning cells grow faster on the shaded side causing it to grow towards the light
