Plant cell structure. Flashcards
What are the four main cell structures in a plant cell?
The cell membrane, the cytoplasm, a nucleus and a cell wall.
What is the cell membrane?
The ‘skin’ that holds the cell together.
What is the function for the cell membrane?
It controls what comes into the cell and what comes out.
What is the cytoplasm?
A watery-like, jelly-like mixture
What is the cytoplasm function?
It provides a platform where organelles can operate with in the cell.
What is the nucleus?
The control centre for the cell.
What is the function for the nucleus?
It controls all the chemical reactions in the cell, how the cell develops and how it reproduces.
Where is the cell wall in the cell?
It lies on the outside of the cell.
What is the function for the cell wall?
it keeps them upright and gives them shape.
